The Musical Side of Peter Frank

Peter Frank, recent past president of ACA and current member of its Board of Governors, is a partner at Schulman Lobel (www.schulmanlobel.com), an accounting firm which has many professional musicians and artists on its client roster. Peter has been playing woodwinds, guitar, and singing since he was about 9 years old. He started with clarinet, then added guitar and singing to his repertoire after seeing The Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. According to Peter, “My Grandfather bought me a guitar, and I taught myself how to play from a Beatles songbook that had chord charts.” Peter continued to perform, eventually joining a rock and roll band in his first year of college. “They liked me as a singer, but they didn’t need an acoustic guitarist. So, a cousin sent me an old saxophone, which I learned how to play — and I became the lead singer and sax player!”

His love of music and performing would lead him to transfer to Syracuse University’s, School of Visual and Performing Arts, Setnor College of Music, where he played in numerous bands and ensembles in and out of school and continued to polish his craft. After earning his bachelor’s degree in music, Peter moved to New York City to pursue a career as a musician, by giving lessons, playing weddings and other club dates, transcribing sheet music, etc. He also helped form a band doing original music. To help make ends meet, Peter took a job in his father’s accounting office. This also allowed him to concentrate on writing and performing original music, which continues to be his passion today. Eventually, Peter went to graduate school for business and became a CPA — but he never stopped playing, writing, and performing.

In fact, he’s working on his third album of original songs. Want to hear some of Peter’s music? Go to www.peterfrankmusic.com or Spotify (in addition to other streaming services).
